Malaysian Are Smart People

I had a quick glance on my newspaper just now and saw the article below. The price of Ron95 increased by 5 sen per litre. I’m fine with the increase or subsidy rationalisation (as he prefers to said it this way)

PUTRAJAYA: The prices of Ron95 and diesel have increased by 5sen per litre while liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and sugar will go up by 5sen per kg and 20sen per kg respectively.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Idris Jala said that the price hikes, effective midnight yesterday, were expected to result in a total savings of RM1.18bil.

There is a part of the article that made me laugh.

He said the price of Ron95, which would be raised to RM1.90 per litre from the current price of RM1.85, would still be lower compared to its retail price in Indonesia (RM2.46), Singapore (RM4.63) and Thailand (RM4.25).

Well, he calculates petrol price of our neighbour countries after conversion to ringgit. I don’t understand why he keeps on treating Malaysian as a bunch of fools. In fact, Ron95 in Singapore is cheaper than Malaysia as of now. Malaysian are smart people. Don't keep treat us like fools. Thank you.

RON95 in Malaysia = RM1.90
RON95 in Singapore = SGD 1.877

This snapshot shows the current petrol price in Singapore.

Yes 4G Disappointing Start

Yes, the bad rather than good things amaze us.

Yes, your website has downed since 19th till today. Yes, none of your competitors has ever done this. Yes, you’re the first to achieve this rare feat.

I measure Yes website with both Alexa and Google Insight. The result is shown here. I compare Yes website with the three big brothers, Maxis, Digi and Celcom.

Yes had more traffic than the others from 19th Nov onwards and is one of the fastest rising searches in Malaysia. It recorded +250% breakout as of 25th Nov 2010.

Yes failed to forecast the possible traffic coming to its site and hence, the bandwidth cap couldn’t managed such a huge volume and crash

Yes website is still not functional as of now. Yes, I see it clearly that you are offering 10GB for registration before 19th Dec but your website is still crash.

I shall wait to see how you are going to make me say yes to Yes 4G.

The Best Wake-Up Call

Everyone, you and me, are guilty in time wasting, abandon a relationship by not making contact with family and friends and spend money like there is no tomorrow.

Admit it. You did it.

We never really concerned about others except ourselves. We always put ourselves first before others. Yes, it’s true. Only a wake-up call can make us realize of the most precious things in life. There is no wake-up call more effective than facing death itself. It’s the best wake-up call.

What will you do if you know you are dying in 5 years time or possibly sooner? Live in fear? Give up? Or plan to have the best 5 years of your life?

What will you do? Think about it.

How To Identify Engine Oil Leak That Is Hard To Find

A small oil leak in your engine is like a hidden enemy as it’s difficult to trace. It could goes unnoticed for a long period, if you are lazy or until serious damage happened to engine.

These two steps can help you identify the problem.

1. Check the engine oil dipstick. Wipe it clean beforehand for accurate reading. It’s best to check it early morning after an overnight.

2. Look under your car and check the engine oil pan. An engine pan covered with oil is sign of leakage.

Once you identify it, it’s time to find location of the leakage. How to do it?

It’s simple and easy. Drive your car to the nearest car wash shop and give it a wash.
IMPORTANT: Wash the under hood and bottom of your car.

It should be squeaky clean and dry without any oil mark on the engine pan. Remember to top up some engine oil and drive around as usual. On the following day, send it straight to your mechanic.

Why wash it the night before you send your car to mechanic?

For a visible sign of oil trail appears on your engine pan. Mechanic can easily identify the part that causes leakage. This simple action saves you time and money.

How To Write A Resume

Remember this important phrase.

Resume helps you to get an interview NOT a job

It’s the interview helps you get a job.

The question now is,

“How are you going to make the person who reads your resume giving you a call?”

It must attract the person to read more of your resume.

1. Layout is important. It helps when your resume layout is different from 100 resumes with the same layout. There are many jobseekers using same resume builder from specific jobsite.

Spend some time study different resume layouts that are available from Internet and customized it. When you customized it, your resume will stand out from the rest.

2. Wording of your resume. An attractive resume is easy to read. Employers will ignore those resumes that are difficult to read.

3. Contents. The most important content of your resume is your professional working experience. This is where you highlight your achievements to prospective employers. Write down the goods thins you did in your work instead of the job descriptions.

Example,
Cost savings activities
Sales achievement
Clearing the backlog
Any ideas or activities, which contributes to efficient and effective work
Meeting the deadline of your work
Teaching new staff

A word of advice: Be honest in stating your achievement.

4. Please remember this. Don’t forget to include your name and contact number. There is nothing more funny than an impressive resume without name and contact number. There are people made this mistake.

How To Make Yourself Poor in 3 Easy Steps (and in big trouble)

1. Buy everything you want anytime and anywhere. Clothes, shoes, gadgets and anything you fancy.

Timeline to trouble: Very fast. Approximately 1 hour. Spend all your salary in one hour and you’re in trouble for the rest 29 days.

2. When no cash in hand, use the always convenient credit card. Charge all your expenses into it and pay the minimum amount every month.

Timeline to trouble: Fast. Approximately 1 month. By paying minimum amount only, the magic of interest will bring nightmare to you soon. It will haunt you for many years to come.

A famous quote by Albert Einstein,
“Compound interest is the eight wonder of the world”

3. Take out a new loan to pay your current loan. It’s similar with a lie to cover another lie.

Timeline to trouble: Moderately fast. Approximately 2 months. Again, the interest will work its magic. Be prepared for non-stop calls and visits from your good old banks.

How long you going to be in trouble at this stage? Good luck, my friend. You need it.

Forgotten Dream

I am INFP personality person. I did my own research from Internet and found out that my profession doesn’t suit my personality. It said INFP type doesn’t belong to the 9 to 5 world due to clash of values and beliefs.

INFP loves job with a purpose of helping others. Flexibility in job without much restriction in rules is a dream come true for this type.

Truth to be told, I know for long that I don’t belong to my current profession. There had been many times I said to myself,
“Do I really like this work?”
“Do I like working in corporate world?”
“I can’t find happiness in my work”

Back to my student days, I always follow my heart to pursue my dream. It all started to change when I enroll to college. I studied a course chosen and forced by my family as they strongly opposed my chosen course. I obtained a good grade but was never happy…

Soon, I landed a job suited with my qualification. Looking back, it’s almost 5 years since I joined the working world and abandoned my dream.

I felt something is missing from my life. I am like a rat running inside a wheel but couldn’t get out of it. The consolation prize is I didn’t feel dead yet but I know it’s just a matter of time. Something's got to give way… a change is needed. It’s time to re-capture and re-connect with my true self.

Regret

Never ever let something or someone goes without taking any action. You'll live to regret this.

It happened to me. I'm ruing my inaction at that time. I should take action but I didn't....

Always grab opportunity with both hands. Always act and take the first step. Always do things you want.

There are things only come for once in our life. Once you missed it, it'll never come back...no matter what....

Regret.....

Reunion With Old Flame

Things are funny. There are places, which remind us of old flames. There are certain memories flashback connected with the place. However, there are memory that we can only remember when meet up with old flames again. It happens to me.

Yesterday, I go to a complex after work. It’s a sudden decision I made while on my way back home. The last time I went there was few years’ back.

I stroll around the complex while reminiscing my past. Then, I saw a familiar figure whom I haven't see for nine years. A figure who made me have butterflies in the stomach. I met her for the first time at this complex nine years ago. And here she is, my old flame, in front of me at the same place after nine years.

The first thought crossed my mind is, “She has changed. She used to be slightly plump but she is thinner now.”

The shine in her eyes is same like nine years ago. Those kind of look that “kills” me nine years ago and acts as a memory trigger. I remembered something.

I was involved in a road accident nine years before. I drive fast and hit divider while cornering. This accident brings serious injury to me. I had skull fracture and internal bleeding. I gone through a surgery and hospitalised for one week. I was in coma for two days after the surgery.

Whenever friends ask the cause of the accident, I always mention careless driving. I had somehow forget all about it…the real cause.

Have you experienced it before? - Déjà vu

How to said it? I’m not a skeptic but not a believer too. I felt I had déjà vu before.

It happens when I was around 10 to 12 years old. It was during one of the school days and probably noon or early afternoon.

I have strong feelings that tell me, “What I am doing here? I did this before. I had seen this too. I came here before. Somebody call my name when I was here last time.”

But this can’t be true because this is my first time going to recreational park nearby my school. In fact, it is the only time I had such deep and engaging experience. I can still recall the strong feeling I have at that moment till today.

I do not know whether my mind made a fool of me or not.

There is a lot of explanation for the occurrence of déjà vu in the net.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Déjà vu (pronounced /ˈdeɪʒɑː ˈvuː/ ( listen) DAY-zhah VOO; French: [deʒa vy] ( listen), "already seen"; also called paramnesia, from Greek παρα "para," "near, against, contrary to" + μνήμη "mēmē," "memory") or promnesia, is the experience of feeling sure that one has witnessed or experienced a new situation previously (an individual feels as though an event has already happened or has happened in the recent past), although the exact circumstances of the previous encounter are uncertain. The term was coined by a French psychic researcher, Émile Boirac (1851–1917) in his book L'Avenir des sciences psychiques ("The Future of Psychic Sciences"), which expanded upon an essay he wrote while an undergraduate. The experience of déjà vu is usually accompanied by a compelling sense of familiarity, and also a sense of "eeriness," "strangeness," "weirdness," or what Sigmund Freud calls "the uncanny." The "previous" experience is most frequently attributed to a dream, although in some cases there is a firm sense that the experience has genuinely happened in the past.[1]

I may not write this post if not for the occurrence of déjà vu again. This time, it’s not place but a person. Let call her Jane, Plain Jane. She’s a colleague of mine.

I felt I met her before in a petrol station (somewhere, it’s either Mobil or Esso). The funny fact is I don’t pump petrol in both Mobil or Esso. This time, the experience isn’t as deep as the former but my heart keep saying, “I saw plain jane in petrol station. Yes, I saw her before in petrol station”. It’s fleeting and weak moment but repetitious all the time.

I’m confused but I do believe there is something I can find from this confusion.

Will Jose Mourinho beats Barcelona in 2010 La Liga?

Absolutely. Jose Mourinho will beats Barcelona to La Liga title this coming new season. He may not be a practitioner of beautiful game (i.e barcelona and arsenal) but his managerial statistics is amazing.

For more details,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Mourinho

Real Madrid is definitely "underdog" in comparison with Barcelona. After all, Barcelona has 7 first team players in Spain national team who won World Cup.

I will rooting for the "underdog"

Subsidy Rationalisation

Excerpt from The Star, Saturday 17 July 2010. Page N16

Reduction in fuel and sugar subsidies - effective 16 July 2010, fuel and sugar subsidies will be adjusted as follows:

RON 95 subsidy will be reduced 5 sen per liter

RON 97 will no longer be subsidized. It will subjected to a managed float, where the price will be determined by the automatic pricing mechanism

Diesel subsidy will be reduced by 5 sen per liter for all subsidized sectors

LPG subsidy will be reduced by 10 sen per kilogram

Sugar subsidy will be reduced resulting in a 25 sen per kilogram upwards price adjustment

Trash Talk Time:
Well, I can't said I'm angry with the price increase in petrol even though it will burn extra hole in my pocket.

The matter I'm not happy is this,
"Our fuel price is still one of the lowest among the region"

Sure or not? Please lah, don't use conversion rate to calculate fuel price of other countries. Don't forget that we are oil exporting country. Don't hoodwinked us with your fail and "closed one eye" theory.

Visit the link below and see for yourself the price our neighbour, Singaporean is paying for RON95. You be the judge.

A damn tired day

I was trapped in traffic for 1 hour just to go to a shopping mall which is approximately 10km distance from my office. 6 minutes driving = 1km!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. What the hell!!!!!!!!!!!
